What should I do...?

...if I have a question or concern for Dr. Akinde?
Don't hesitate to call (at any time, it's the same number, 847-242-0700).  I am here for you any time of day or night.  The fact that you are calling me means you need my help with something.  I am happy to help sort out any problems or confusion.  For non-urgent matters, you can simply e-mail the office (glencoepediatrics@gmail.com).

...if I  have an emergency?
If you have an emergency (immediate threat to safety, health or life), please call 911 or go to the nearest hospital's Emergency Room.  Common problem can be but are not limited to: bleeding uncontrollably; sudden loss of consciousness; any loss of a body part or (white, purple) discoloration; rapid swelling; inability to breathe such as choking or uncontrolled asthma attack, serious allergic reaction or anaphylaxis, etc

...if my child has a fever?
First thing is not to worry.  Fever is the body's natural & normal defense against infection.  By generating a fever, the body is creating a hostile environment for germs and at the same time activating the immune system to gear up for defending the body against viruses, bacteria, fungi & parasites.  Fever does not harm your child & the you honestly can not break a fever with medicine.  Instead, once the body gains advantage over the process of infection, the temperature begins to return back to normal.  In the meantime, keep your child comfortable  with age & weight-appropriate dosing of ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil, etc) or acetaminophen (Tylenol, APAP, QPAP, etc) as these medicines lower the body's temperature and take away the discomfort of being so hot with fever.
